Alcatel One Touch D820 Spotted In Benchmark, Specs Incl. QHD Display, 3GB RAM, 8MP Shooter, MediaTek SoC

The Alcatel One Touch series of the Chinese manufacturer is undeniably its most popular lineup, with smartphones ranging from entry level to high end. And it looks like Alcatel wants to add another member to this family - the One Touch D820.

While we have not yet heard anything about this handset, it appears that it is already nearing completion. According to a report by GSM Arena, the Alcatel One Touch D820 has even ran GFXBench which 'sort of' confirmed its specs.

In the popular benchmark, the upcoming Android smartphone packs a rather small 4.6-inch display with a whopping QHD or 2K (2560 x 1440) resolution, a first from Alcatel, and only the fifth in the world after the Vivo Xplay 3S, Oppo Find 7, LG G3, and the Korean-exclusive Samsung Galaxy S5 LTE-A.

However, that is not its only selling point as the Alcatel One Touch D820 also packs a quad-core CPU clocked at 1.8GHz, 3GB of RAM, and 16GB of internal memory.

Other specs include an 8MP primary camera which can record 4K clips, and another 8MP front shooter for selfies and video calls.

In the report and in the spec sheet from GFXBench, the Alcatel One Touch D820 runs on Android 4.4.2 Kit Kat out of the box.

Alcatel has not been loud in announcing its smartphones in the past and this should also be the case with this new upcoming handset. However, the prying eyes of leakers simply cannot ignore the 2K display which would grace this smartphone's screen.

Just to clarify, GFXBench usually lists slightly different specs to the original, which means the 12GB of built in storage should be 16GB, the 7MP shooter should be 8MP, the frequency of the CPUs should exceed 2GHz, and the small 4.6-inch display should be at least 5 inches.

If this would be launched today, it would only be available in China and select Asian markets. For a higher end model such as this one, do you think Alcatel should give it an international release?
