New Blackberry Phones: Canadian Manufacturer Announces The 'Passport', Specs Incl. QWERTY Keypad, Square Design

For all those Blackberry loyalists out there, your prayers have been answered! One of the new Blackberry phones which would be making its way in the market soon has a QWERTY keypad.

Not convinced? A report from GSM Arena tells us that the Canada-based manufacturer has recently announced the Blackberry Passport.

No that is not a typo, the company named it Passport. Why? That is because it looks like one.

Aside from the QWERTY keypad, another notable feature of the upcoming Blackberry phone is its square design. A follow-up report showed Blackberry CEO John Chen holding up the Blackberry Passport and comparing it with another Blackberry phone with a trademark keypad.

So what does this Blackberry Passport bring to the table? The BB OS powered smartphone packs a 4.5-inch display in a square design. It has a QHD resolution (1440 x 1440) to fit the square display of the Passport.

Below the screen is a three-row QWERTY keypad which would surely be welcomed by Blackberry fans all over the world. In spite its small frame, the Blackberry Passport is going to be a wide device measuring 81mm. In comparison the Samsung Galaxy Note 3's waistline is 80mm wide.

Remember the other phone compared to the Passport? It turns out that it is also a new Blackberry phone. Dubbed as the Blackberry Classic, the smartphone lives up to its name due to its 3.5-inch screen and QWERTY hardware keypad.

Both the Blackberry Classic and Passport are expected to hit the Asian market in the next couple of weeks.

Blackberry is now doing anything just to win its loyal fanbase back, and it has done so with flying colors. Let us just hope that the specs for both the Passport and Classic do not disappoint. Looks are good, but ultimately people will need phones which actually work in their intended way.
