Upcoming Nokia Phones 2014: Nokia X2 Is Coming To Town On June 24, Specs Incl. Bigger Display, 1GB RAM

If you think the first Nokia Android phone was prematurely released, you will be pleased to know that a successor is already headed its way to the market this month.

According to a report by GSM Arena, Nokia has teased through its Nokia Conversations blog its upcoming event on June 24, Tuesday.

While the manufacturer did not release any images of the device, dubbed simply as the Nokia X2, the company teased it through the tagline 'Green with Envy'.

Like other teaser images and promotions from other companies, Nokia did not mention or even hint the device's specs. However, given that the device will be the successor of the Android-powered Nokia X, it safe to say that it will come with a number of improvements.

First up will be the screen. The Nokia X packs a 4" WVGA display which can be disappointing for people who love multimedia, including watching videos. Hopefully, the Nokia X2 would provide a bigger display with a better resolution, possible qHD (960 x 540) or even HD (1280 x 720).

Another facet where the Nokia X2 can improve over its predecessor is the camera department. The Nokia X only has 3MP of rear camera with no front cam. Putting a better camera with a front-facing shooter could help Nokia gain plus points from a group in the market that are cameraphone enthusiasts.

In the report, another rumored spec of the Nokia X2 is its 1GB of RAM, which is certainly a welcome upgrade to its predecessor's dismal 512MB RAM. With this, the device would be able to handle multi-tasking better as well as run memory-intensive tasks smoother.

The Android powered device is scheduled for an announcement on June 24, and a possible availability to select markets beginning in July. Now that Nokia will soon release its fourth Android phone, it is safe that it is serious in developing handsets for the world's most popular platform.
