2014 NBA Free Agency Rumors & Predictions: Rudy Gay Will Stay With Sacramento Kings! No Other Team Will Pay Him $19 Million!

The 2014 NBA Free Agency Rumors & Predictions are on full blast and some are bowing out of this year's race-which may be the right decision.

Two years ago, Rudy Gay would be the third best small forward on the free agent market (next to LeBron James and Carmelo Anthony) but after two dismal seasons which earned him the label of an 'inefficient player,' his stock has dropped tremendously.

The past two years have seen most teams in the NBA employ the use of 'advanced metrics' or 'analytics:' these are instruments for analysis that evaluate little-noticed stats which will provide a better assessment of a player's contribution to the team.

Rudy Gay was described as an 'analytics nightmare.' He refutes the idea in an interview with nba.com: "Honestly, how I view it, a computer can't tell talent, it just can't. When it comes down to it, it's all about winning, and however you get the win. According to analytics, you either [have] to shoot a 3 or get to the foul line, and it's not good for people like me that live in that mid-range area."

He adds: "It's tough. Obviously, according to analytics, some of my opponents wouldn't value me as much as they do. So, a computer can say what it wants, but as long as I get respect from my peers, that's all that matters."

But not even his peers or rival executives acknowledge his value anymore. The Toronto Raptors had a hard time trading him last year, eventually taking expiring contracts with little value from Sacramento. It didn't help Gay's case when Toronto had a resurgence AFTER he was traded. They finished third in the East and were one shot away from beating the Brooklyn Nets in the playoffs. His departure also catapulted Kyle Lowry to become the best point guard in the Conference.

Now, Rudy Gay made the easiest decision in his career. He has a player option of a whopping $ 19.3 million (just a million less than LeBron James) and as expected, he's taking it. No other team would pay him close to that figure.

The Sacramento Kings remain positive although one feels like they have to because they're stuck. They are hoping this would be a breakout year for Gay since his contract will expire.
