Samsung Galaxy Note 8 Review, Update: Android 4.4.2 KitKat For 8-Inch Phablet May Cause Undesired Changes; Are You Experiencing Issues With Your Upgrade?

Samsung Galaxy Note 8 review, update: Android 4.4.2 KitKat is now available for Samsung Galaxy Note 8, but according to one of our users, the OS upgrade may cause some undesired changes to your 8-inch tablet.

“The kitkat update has destroyed my enjoyment of my Note 8. The video player does not work. Youtube no longer works. The font is now so small I can hardly read it. Battery takes forever to charge and discharges very quickly. The wifi is iffy at best, stuff takes forever to load, buffering every 10 seconds. Would love to revert to Jellybean,” writes user Disgusted on our June 9 story about the Note 8.

This is the only instance we’ve found where a Note 8 user is having issues with the KitKat update. Let us know in the comments section below if you’re experiencing problems after updating your 8-inch tablet to Android 4.4.2 KitKat.

Upgrading to Android 4.4.2

Load The Game notes that the size of the Android 4.4.2 Note 8 update is a considerable 712MB and will bring immersive mode, cloud print and other new features to the phablet. The update is available via Samsung Kies or as an OTA update. Wi-Fi connection is needed to take advantage of the 4.4.2 KitKat update and it maybe slow initially.

The new OS, however, will not bring the newest TouchWiz UI to the unit. The famous interface is found on the Samsung Galaxy S5, Samsung Galaxy Tab Pro and Samsung Galaxy Note Pro. It may arrive in stages, but is not immediately available.

Users can check if the Samsung Galaxy Note 8 Android 4.4.2 KitKat update is available by going to Settings > About Tablet > Check for updates.

2014 Samsung Galaxy Note 8?

Speculations about an updated Samsung Galaxy Note 8 are in the rumor mill. In a forum post on Android Central, one user noted that the new line-up for the Note line would be the Samsung Galaxy Note 3, Samsung Galaxy Note 8 (2014) and Samsung Galaxy Note 10.1 (2014). Another user commented that the Note 8 (2013) edition is already dropping in inventory, a sign that retailers are waiting for a new version to come out.

The Note 8 has been a famous and successful product for Samsung, thanks to its features and overall look. It has received praise from many tech reviewers.

In a review by CNET on the tablet’s first edition it noted that the Samsung Galaxy Note 8 has the “best-looking small tablet screen” and writing with S-Pen feels natural. CNET further says that the Note 8 is a stunning tablet with a truly useful stylus. The International Business Times has billed the device as one of the best tablets to come in 2013.

If in case the Samsung Galaxy Note 8 will release a 2014 version, it will go head to head with the rumored Nexus 8 tablet that Google may also release this year.
