NBA Trade Rumors: Josh Smith To Sacramento? Kings Want More Offensive Power! Can J-Smoove Get Along With Rudy Gay And DeMarcus Cousins?

The NBA Trade Rumors are heating up as the draft closes in. Two teams that are expected to make a move are the Sacramento Kings and the Detroit Pistons.

One of the main reasons why these two teams would make moves is that their rosters have glaring flaws that need to be addressed.

Now that Stan Van Gundy is both the head coach and team president, he is expected to make smart and impactful moves to improve the team. The logjam at the frontline with Andre Drummond, Greg Monroe and Josh Smith is definitely on top of the list.

There is already an attempt to send him to the Pistons. From ESPN: "Sources say that Smith being swapped in exchange for the combination of Sacramento's Jason Thompson and Derrick Williams is one trade construction that the teams have discussed. Although one source insisted Tuesday that no deal is imminent, another source told ESPN.com that the teams have continued to exchange proposals, with Williams potentially being replaced by another Kings player such as Jason Terry or Carl Landry."

The Pistons perspective is clear: they simply need to move one of those three players and Smith would be the best prospect because of his hefty, long term deal.

CBS Sports explains the Kings' position:

"If you're getting a good offensive version of Smith, it's a good move for the Kings. Unfortunately, we haven't seen that version of Smith in a few seasons. He's one of the worst 3-point shooters in NBA history, and he's fallen in love with a jumper he can't consistently hit over being an great all-around player like we used to watch. However, the Kings did a great job turning Rudy Gay into an efficient offensive weapon last season and could be hoping to do the same with Smith."

Is it a risk worth taking? We must remember that the city of Sacramento is on a conditional tenure from the league. The team is under extreme pressure to succeed-not just in basketball but also financially to build a new stadium. A big name like J-Smoove would help in that aspect.
