Samsung Galaxy S2 owners can now install Android 4.4.3 KitKat update via a custom ROM.

According to GSM Arena, the latest official firmware update received by Samsung Galaxy S2 was the Android 4.1 Jelly Bean. However, thanks to custom ROM, users can now install Android 4.4.3 KitKat update on Samsung Galaxy S2.

The custom firmware, OmniROM is currently out for Samsung Galaxy S2, particularly for GT-I9000 variant of the smartphone. Created by 'Xplodwild,' OmniROM started to roll out for Samsung Galaxy S2 on June 5.

But prior to installing Android 4.4.3 KitKat update on Samsung Galaxy S2 GT-I9100 via the custom OmniROM, there are some requirements and conditions to satisfy first.

First, it is extremely necessary that the user planning to install Android 4.4.3 KitKat update gets the compatible model number of the smartphone. As aforementioned in this article several times, the OmniROM firmware based on Android 4.4.3 KitKat update is only suitable for the GT-I9100 model of Samsung Galaxy S2.

To check the model number, go to Settings >> About Device >> Model Number.

Furthermore, the battery level of the device should be 80 percent or more to avoid power interruption issues when you begin to install Android 4.4.3 KitKat update on Samsung Galaxy S2 GT-I9100. 

Enable the USB Debugging Mode by going to Settings and then to Developer Options. 

Make sure the proper USB drivers are installed on the computer so the Samsung Galaxy S2 will easily connect to the PC during the installation process.
