The Asian team's coach Hong Myung-bo apologized to fans after allowing three goals in the first half of the match against Algeria, the South China Morning Post reports.
"The defense wasn't what it should have been, our players were not up to standard," Hong said, according to the site.
"I would like to apologize to the Korean fans and I promise we will do our best for the next match."
Belgium, ranked first in the group, is expected to be the favorite of the match.
The European team's manager Marc Wilmots said he is keeping an eye out on Russia's performance in their next match.
"Russia must win and they are the team under pressure so we must be patient," Wilmots said, according to The Independent.
"Russia need the win more than we do."
