Upcoming Android Phones 2014: XOLO Adds Another Affordable Handset With 5" Display, Quad-Core CPU, 8MP Camera, Costs Only $166

XOLO is among the top manufacturers in India which sell upcoming Android phones in 2014 in the Asian sub-continent. And just like its other manufacturer siblings, the Indian mobile maker places affordable price tags to its smartphones.

A new addition to its affordale smartphone lineup is the XOLO Q1011, a midrange Android phone that packs some decent hardware.

According to the report by GSM Arena, XOLO made the announcement earlier today, though the handset became available in Amazon India minutes later. The XOLO Q1011 costs Rs.999 or roughly $166.

So what does this XOLO smartphone have to offer?

The Android-powered handset packs a 5-inch display with HD (1280 x 720) resolution, a quad-core CPU running at 1.3GHz, 1GB of RAM and 4GB of internal memory.

Also on board the XOLO Q1011 is an 8-megapixel BSI camera paired with a 2MP front cam to manage selfies and video calls, dual-SIM support, and a microSD card slot for storage expansion.

Fortunately, the device has ample power source to last throughout the day. It runs on a 2,250mAh battery, and Android 4.4 Kit Kat out of the box.

In spite the lower midrange specs, the XOLO Q1011 is still an interesting phone due to its Android version - KitKat, which means animations, app loading, and overall performance are enhanced.

Last year when Google announced version 4.4, it mentioned that KitKat is geared towards lower-end smartphones so that people who use them do not lose the functionality and smoothness of Android because of hardware limitations.

With the recent announcement of Android L, which is tipped to be version 4.5 a.k.a. Lollipop, we expect more manufacturers to release smartphones and tablets which run on the latest version. Yesterday, Micromax, another Indian mobile maker was one of the featured manufacturers which have worked with Google for their first Android One device.
