Kesha Rehab Update: ‘Timber’ Songstress Admits Eating Disorder Was The ‘Scariest Thing’ That Happened To Her

Earlier this year, Kesha rehab news surfaced when the 27-year-old songstress voluntarily stayed at the Timbeline Knolls facility for the treatment for her eating disorder. Such disorder was the reason why she had to cancel several tours.

Although she remains tightlipped about her previous struggles, she opened up to the August issue of Teen Vogue: "Making my last record, Warrior, was a pretty miserable process, and it wore my spirit down. I was fighting like hell to keep my whole irreverent essence and everything raw and visceral that I stand for in it, but in the end I was promoting something that wasn't the animal I wanted it to be. I decided to face my problem head-on."

At one point, Kesha eventually realized that she was writing songs which she herself couldn't relate to: "My whole message is to love who you are and accept all your beautiful imperfections. When I felt I was slipping into unloving territory with myself, I knew I had to listen to my own advice and correct it."

Kesha's rehab stint was also the 'Your Love is My Drug' singer's most frightening experience: "The decision to take control of it is the scariest thing I've ever done, and this is coming from someone who dives with sharks and jumps out of airplanes for fun."

During Kesha's rehabilitation, she was able to pen 14 songs which could possibly be released in a new album. Rumors previously came out that Kesha's manager played a big role in her self-esteem. Dr. Luke allegedly called her a "big, fat refrigerator" during one of her music video shoots which the manager later denied.

"I'm a crusader for being yourself and loving yourself, but I've found it hard to practice. I'll be unavailable for the next 30 days, seeking treatment for my eating disorder... to learn to love myself again, exactly as I am," Kesha announced when she entered Timberline Knolls.
