Vince Carter News: Veteran Guard Signs 3-Year $12M Contract With Memphis

After three years with the Mavs, the latest Vince Carter news opens another chapter int the veteran guard's successful career.

While Carter previously told Dallas management that he would re-sign give they'd give him at least a two-year contract worth $8 million, but the Mavs were short of cap room as they offered small forward Chandler Parsons a hefty three-year contract worth more than $45 million.

Meanwhile, the 37-year-old Carter entertained other offers instead, particular Memphis four-year contract worth $12.2 million.

As one of the game's premier high flyers, Carter became one of the best dunkers in the league. Unfortunately, his high-flying habits have slowly made its toll in his body, particularly in his knees.

In spite coming from numerous injuries in the past, 'Air Canada' is still a reliable shooter and scorer. During his final year with the Dallas Mavericks, Carter averaged 11.9 points a game, 3.5 rebounds and 2.6 assists a game in the regular season. More importantly, he shot the ball extremely well from behind the three-point line, averaging 0.39 percent from deep.

As backup scorer in Memphis, Carter would need to work with Zac Randolph, Mike Conley and Marc Gasol in order to make the Playoffs once more.

Meanwhile, Dallas looks poised in getting Parsons as the 3-day deadline for the Rockets is almost up. In spite losing a reliable three point shooter and vocal leader in the locker room in Carter, they would be rewarded with a young and talented shooter that can spread the floor with his threes, while having the ability to slash and create shots for himself.

The good thing about Parsons is that he is a team player, and with other scorers such as Monta Ellis and Dirk Nowitzki also in the starting five, it would be easier for the 25-year-old forward to mesh with his new teammates.
