Nexus 8 Release Date, Rumors, Specs, News, Leaked Info, And Price: Google Drops Price Of Nexus 7 Tablet In Advance of Nexus 8 Also Called Nexus Volantis [PHOTO]

Google Nexus 8 release date may come very soon as its predecessor, Nexus 7, has just undergone a price drop. Google, however, has remained quiet about the impending Nexus 8 release date, even among a flood of leaks about the device.

Google also offered a deal to users, and is throwing in a three-month free subscription to Google Play Music All Access when you purchase the 16GB Nexus 7 through the Play Store. The tablet is still available through the Google Play Store for $299 and the promo runs until September 30.

Google Nexus 8 is supposed to be manufactured by HTC and is dubbed as "Volantis". The tablet will pack a 8.9-inch screen with 2048 x 1440 pixel resolution and 221dpi, 2GB RAM, and HTC's famous front-facing speakers. It will also house NVIDIA's Tegra K1 processor. Reports also predicted that the tablet will cost $399 for the 16GB version, $499 for the 32GB version, while the LTE version will have a price tag of $600.

The 8-inch tablet is reported to be released later this year after the tablet skipped the recently concluded Google's I/O Conference last month. The Nexus 8 tablet will be announced in the fall. However, Google has not officially announced anything yet.

The most recent rumor is that the new Nexus 8 tablet might not be that different form the Nexus 10 tablet in terms of body and size.

According to Rhoda Alexander the Nexus 8 will contain a high resolution 8.9 inch screen which will match it's 2560x1600 pixels on the Kindle Fire HDX 8.9. This will in turn give it a pixel density of 339PPI. This is higher than the Nexus 7 which has the 323PPI density pixel. With the competition in the market it only makes sense that Google will have an 8.9 inch in the Nexus 8 rather than replace it with either of the other tablets.

As for the manufacturer we are not yet sure which way Google will go; however, there are several rumors that it will probably be HTC.

HTC are the makers of the HTC One M8 phone. HTC was offered the opportunity to manufacture the Nexus 7, but they turned it down so as to concentrate with their phone lines.

While there has been no official announcement, we can expect the Nexus 8 release date to be within the next few months, definiately within 2014.
