Moto X+1 Release Date, Rumors, Specs, And Leaked Photos: Smartphone Also Called Motorola X2 Seen Running Android L [PHOTO]

The Motorolo X+1 smartphone was supposed to be released this past may, but wasn't, leading to a firestorm of internet speculation. We can expect the Moto X+1 also called the Moto X2 to be released sometime in late summer, most likely September.

Motorola typically likes to launch new Droid smartphones for Verizon and a flagship device during the summer months. The company released the Droid Ultra, Droid Mini, and Droid Maxx for Verizon last July and also launched its flagship Moto X last August. Motorola is widely expected to follow a similar schedule this year and one of those four smartphones has just appeared in a leaked video.

We reported on a mystery Motorola smartphone in May that was believed to be the Moto X's successor, the Moto X+1. The source of the leaked image followed up with another photo of the smartphone's 5.2-inch Full HD AMOLED display.

TK Tech News is back with a video of the 5.2-inch unannounced Motorola smartphone. The smartphone has been covered in areas with tape to protect the tipster. The handset appears to be running what looks like a very early build of Google's just announced Android L OS and is running on Verizon's 4G LTE network.

A Motorola re-seller claimed that this phone will sport a 5.2-inch display, featuring 1080 x 1920 pixel resolutions. The 'Moto X+1' is rumored to sport 2GB of RAM and draw power from a Snapdragon 800 2.3 GHz processor. We could be looking at a 12 MP primary camera too!

A new video leaked onto the internet this week that displays a device that could be the Moto X2 running Android 5.0 "L" version software. The smartphone is slightly larger than the Nexus 5 which comes with a 4.95-inch display.

The Moto X2 or X+1 was recently spotted in a video that was posted by TK Tech news that also featured the device covered in layers of plastic to hide any identifying marks. The site claims this is a Verizon test version of the new Moto X since it features some of the carrier's bloatware.

The video also reveals that the new model will feature a 1080p display and thinner bezel. It is currently rumored to be called the Moto X+1.

The new model was also seen in Motorola's Moto Maker by a German mobile blog known as MobiFlip. Motorola removed the listing, however, the blog was able to capture a screenshot of it before that happened.

Another report pointed to the Moto X2 release date being in the summer 2014 as Motorola hinted at this during this year's Mobile World Congress at a Q&A session. They said "the next version of Moto X" will arrive sometime in "late summer." Motorola also plans to expand availability of its current smartphone lineup and the Moto Maker tool for its customers. Motorola will bring it to Europe and Mexico.

The company also plans to stick with Android as its primary OS. It also confirmed that the original Moto X will be released in India and Australia during the next few weeks.
