Godzilla 2 Preview At San Diego Comic-Con 2014 [RUMOR]: Gareth Edwards Sequel At SDCC Alongside Crimson Peak Despite Star Wars Spin Off Movie?

"Godzilla" is barely out of the box office, but fans are already anticipating the sequel aka "Godzilla 2" to grace the 2014 San Diego Comic-Con.

According to ScreenRant, reports are theorizing that Legendary Pictures will be bringing news of "Godzilla 2" alongside other intellectual properties such as Guillermo del Toro's "Crimson Peak." This is mainly due to the fact that in 2012, the "Godzilla" movie was revealed without prior knowledge at Comic-Con.

The Legendary Pictures panel at the 2014 San Diego Comic-Con will take place on Saturday, July 26 from 12:25 to 1:10 pm in Hall H.

However, a "Godzilla 2" release date is unlikely to be anytime soon, given that Gareth Edwards is slated to direct the "Star Wars" spinoff movie.

“Gareth’s filmmaking talent makes him one of his generation’s most creative and visionary directors," said Legendary Pictures CEO Thomas Tull.

"The plan has always been for Gareth to direct a different film before we started on another 'Godzilla,' but who knew it would be a 'Star Wars' installment?"

According to Science Fiction, Edwards the "Star Wars" spin off movie is scheduled to drop on December 16, 2016, meaning a "Godzilla" sequel will premiere after that.

"Ever since I saw 'Star Wars' I knew exactly what I wanted to do for the rest of my life — join the Rebel Alliance! I could not be more excited and honored to go on this mission with Lucasfilm," said Edwards according to StarWars.com.
