Nokia Lumia 520 review, update: Specs of the Windows Phone 8-powered device Nokia Lumia 520 include a 1GHz dual-core processor, 4-inch touchscreen, 5MP camera, and an internal storage that could be maxed out to 64GB.

GSM Arena reports that the budget-friendly handset has registered over 12 million activations to date, with Microsoft announcing the impressive milestone on Monday during its Worldwide Partner Conference keynote in Washington, D.C.

The unit, which is said to account for 30% of all Windows Phone devices, is rumored to be replaced by a handset dubbed Nokia Lumia 530. The famous internet gadget leaker EVLeaks claims that the unannounced handset will come to T-Mobile and AT&T’s Cricket Wireless.

The multi-million activations of the handset include the T-Mobile variant of the device in the United States, the Nokia Lumia 521. GSM Arena notes that it’s uncertain if the Nokia Lumia 525 is included in the tally.

This is the first time that the Microsoft-owned handset maker released actual figures on the number of activations for the said model.

The Nokia Lumia 520 was announced February 2013. A quick look at Amazon.com shows the Nokia Lumia 520 GoPhone AT&T being sold for $53.67, with the MetroPCS Lumia 521 priced at $89.78.

User reviews from the Amazon page note that the Nokia Lumia 520 is a “great off contract phone at a steal f the price,” “excellent nokia phone,” and a “great starter smartphone.”

CNET calls the Nokia Lumia 520 as “one of the best budget phones around.” The tech site wrote that the budget-friendly unit brings tremendous value and is an easy-to-use device. It also has “more features than you think.”

WinBeta describes the Nokia Lumia 520 as the “most affordable Windows Phone with a dual core processor” whose specs would meet the need of the regular user.
