'How To Train Your Dragon 3' Cast Cate Blanchett Talks About The Dragon Sequel As Director Dean DeBlois Reveals Possible Plot Details

Academy award winner Cate Blanchett talks about "How to Train Your Dragon 3."

Cinderella's evil stepmother recently talked with Variety, where she shared her experience in working with the highly successful dragon-themed animation.

"He just walked up to me and said, 'I've written a part for you.' I thought, 'Yeah, that is such a line...!' But he had. He said she was a Jane Goodall-type of character who had spent her life with dragons. I loved the first film and had watched it about nine times with my boys. So my curiosity was piqued, and I thought, 'How will they top that?'" Blanchett recalled as to how director Dean DeBlois approached her for a role in the second sequel.

Furthermore, she revealed that working on her character, Valka, took three years to finish.

"We met every six months or so. You go in and chip away at it for three years, as the animation evolves, and there were little shifts and changes in the story," she revealed.

She also took the chance to praise the franchise director after admitting her excitement for "How to Train Your Dragon 3."

"I am really excited. I don't know what it's going to be, but Dean has such an extraordinary imagination. And he directed in such a detailed, engaged way - he holds a firm grip on the universe," she explained.

On another note, director Dean DeBlois, also shared possible plot details for "How to Train Your Dragon 3" in a quick interview with Collider.

"['How To Train Your Dragon 3′ is] the culmination of Hiccup's coming of age. Both he and Toothless are now chiefs of their respective tribes, and it's a dueling story where you have both characters trying to do what's right for their kind, and an eventual outcome where Hiccup is able to stand on his own. We're gonna take the story to where the books begin, which is Hiccup as an adult reflecting back on a time where there were dragons, suggesting that the dragons will in some way go away. Why and could they come back and the mystery of what all that is will be saved for the actual story."

"How to Train Your Dragon 3" release date was pushed back June 9, 2017 almost a year after its original schedule, which was supposed to be on June 17, 2016.
