PSY's Message to Kim Jong Un, Spreading Love to North Koreans With New Single 'Gentleman'

"I want everyone to be able to enjoy 'Gentleman," said PSY briefly in answer to a question related to Kim Jong Un, North Korean leader and First Secretary of the North Korean Worker's Party.

At a press conference held on Saturday afternoon for PSY's concert, 'Happening,' which opened at Seoul's World Cup Stadium, a Reuters correspondent asked PSY, "If you were to leave a message for North Korean leader, Kim Jong-Un, what would it be?" PSY answered, "I want to continue with what I'm doing as an entertainer - it's a career that pleases people and makes them happy." He went on to say, "Although the division of the Korean peninsula is a tragic reality, through my single, 'Gentleman,' I would like to spread love all throughout the world."

Last year, PSY had competed with Kim Jong-Un for Time Magazine's selection of 'Person of the Year,' with the North Korean leader ultimately taking the spot at number one.

Today at 6:30pm, PSY will open his concert, 'Happening,' and meet with an audience of about 50,000. The wardrobe for the concert is all-white. "I first began thinking about the concept with the idea of 'the white-clad Korean people.' I chose white as the costume concept in order to direct the crowd of white all coming together," PSY explained.

In regards to negative and positive responses to the new single, PSY said, "We released 'Gentleman' after deciding we should go with the most 'PSY-like' B-list song. It's a song that we spent a lot of time thinking about. After receiving so much love and acclaim for 'Gangnam Style' from all over the world, we created a song that fans would be able to easily sing along with."

On Saturday, PSY was accompanied by global marketing manager, Scooter Braun. Braun brought forth chuckles as he introduced himself in Korean, calling PSY 'Hyung' and 'Daebak.'
