Psy Electrifies Crowd At Season 12 'American Idol' Finale With 'Gentleman': Yahoo Music Calls His Performance Totally Last Year [VIDEO]

Psy brought the "American Idol" crowd to its feet Thursday night, with a dynamic performance of his new hit single "Gentleman" on the season 12 finale.

"Treating Us To His global anthem, this is called 'Gentleman.'" was host Ryan Seacrest's introduction. "Ladies and Gentleman welcome Psy,"

Standing before a line of dancers dressed in black and white that would have made Robert Palmer proud, Psy treated the crowd of 7,000 at Los Angeles's Nokia Theater to a show stopping performance.

The "Hollywood Reporter" called Psy "Gangnam Style-ish."

But not everyone was impressed by Psy's performance.

Yahoo Music writer Lyndsey Parker of the blog Reality Rocks, called Psy a low point of Fox's "American Idol" season 12 finale.

"Lowlights included... a performance by PSY that should have been on a finale taking place in 2012, not 2013," Parker wrote.

Other lowlights of the show, according to Parker, were Mariah Carey's "poorly lip-synched" performance, Aretha Franklin's video remote appearance with the five "American Idol" finalists, and a "hairography-overloaded performance by ex-judge Jennifer Lopez that made Mariah's lip-synching look credible."

In the end, the "American Idol" season 12 winner was Candice Glover, a 32-year-old soul singer from the South Carolina countryside, who tried out for the show two times before making the cut.

"Oh, my God. Three years," Glover said, breaking down in tears.

"Three years, persistence, determination and a lot of talent," Seacrest answered. "You deserve it."

Glover could barely keep the tears from streaming down her face as she sang her coronation song, "I Am Beautiful."

The season 12 finale was the last show for 11-year judge Randy Jackson.

The episode featured a montage of Jackson's career, and an invitation to return from Seacrest.

"The door is always open, my brother," he said.

Jackson thanked the "American Idol" fans and contestants during his more than a decade as a judge.

"I am so blessed and so honored and so lucky," Randy said, adding of the show's contestants, past and present: "Hopefully I touched their lives a little bit. They certainly touched mine."

Psy's fans were excited he was included in the special "American Idol" episode.

"Psy Oppa I loved you on Idol!" Twitter user Theresa wrote on Thursday.
