TWICE rejoiced over their fifth year together since debut!
On October 19, the South Korean girl group took time to gather and celebrate their fifth anniversary of debut with their fans through having a special live stream called "WITH." The event was broadcasted via YouTube and V Live that started at 10:20 p.m. KST and lasted for more than two hours.
Before the event, TWICE had a special photoshoot, filmed a video content, and wrote sweet messages for their beloved fans - known as ONCE - for the said special live. Throughout the broadcast, the members reminisce about their time together in the previous years, gave reactions to posts fans uploaded on SNS through the years, enjoyed themselves with a variety of games, and done some special performances.
After exceeding two hours of a live stream, the nine-member group delivered a fan-favorite track entitled "Jaljayo Good Night," which is featured in the group's first full-length album "Twicetagram" in 2017. TWICE members then surprised ONCE with a live performance of their new song "Say Something" that will be included on their upcoming album called "Eyes Wide Open."
In an exclusive statement of TWICE to Just Jared, the group expressed their appreciation for their fans, saying, "We are thankful that they are beside us through everything." The members hoped to continue to create memories forever. They also mentioned that they can't wait for their fans to hear the album and are excited to see ONCE's reaction.
TWICE indeed has a lot to celebrate after five years. The ninesome has been well appreciated in South Korea and also abroad. They have become Korea's best-selling girl group ever after reaching more than ten No. 1 hit songs in Korea and Japan and having sold out arenas throughout Asia and North America.
TWICE has also received loads of trophies from different music shows and awarding events. Some of the female act's awards this year include Album Bonsang, Digital Bonsang, and Cosmopolitan Artist Award in Golden Disc Awards; Bongsang Award at Seoul Music Awards; New K-Wave Favorite Female Bias, Bonsang Award, and Artist of the Year at Soribada Best K-Music Awards.
TWICE is the first female group to debut in JYP Entertainment in more than 4 years after Miss A. The former group is consists of nine members, five of them are Korean, three are Japanese, and one is a Taiwanese. In particular, the members are Jihyo, Nayeon, Dahyun, Jeongyeon, Chaeyoung, Mina, Momo, Sana, and Tzuyu who are carefully chosen through Mnet's reality girl group survival show called "Sixteen" except for Momo, who was eliminated beforehand but was added to the group by Park Jin Young, the founder of JYPE.
Then, in October 2015, TWICE released the EP "The Story Begins" featuring its lead single "Like Ooh-Ahh." The song's music video reaches 50 million views just five months following their debut, making the MV one of the most-viewed debut music videos of a Korean group. The ninesome's first music show award was on May 5, 2016, with "Cheer Up."
TWICE's second Korean studio album "Eyes Wide Open" with its main single "I Can't Stop Me" is scheduled to be out on October 26.
