Chungha's 'Bicycle' Tops Korea's Major Real-Time Charts + Receives Favorable Reviews from Famous British Magazine

Solo artist Kim Chungha has recently made her comeback with her first full-length album titled "Querencia," and its title track is receiving great support from fans in Korea as "Bicycle" sweeps the major real-time charts.

Chungha Hits No. 1 on Korea's Major Real-Time Charts with New Song "Bicycle"

On Feb. 15, the female solo artist has dropped her much-anticipated full album "Querencia," which consists of a total of 21 songs including the title track "Bicycle" and her pre-release singles "Stay Tonight," PLAY," and "X." This album is Kim's first one in four years since her solo debut.

Chungha took part in writing the lyrics of "Bicycle," together with VINCENZO. Composed by Dawn Elektra, Daniel Kim, and Jeremy G (Future Sound), the song is categorized as an R&B pop-trap track that conveys the excitement of pedaling ahead and moving forward.

Shortly after it was released, Chungha's "Bicycle" quickly settled at the top of Korea's major real-time charts such as MelOn, Genie, and Bugs. It rose from No. 2 on Bugs and Genie's real-time charts. The track also managed to enter MelOn's 24Hits chart and is expected to see a steady rise.

In addition to the impressive chart performances, the music video for Chungha's "Bicycle" also gained attention from domestic and international fans. After 13 hours of its launch, the MV already surpassed two million views, proving the K-pop solo artist's global popularity.

As of Feb. 16, the music video has reached 2.3 million views with more than 250,000 likes and over 15,000 comments, which are mostly praising Chungha for her versatility as the female idol was able to showcase her skills from singing and rapping to dancing, plus flaunting her stunning visual.

Kim Chungha Receives Praises from Famous British Magazine NME and Domestic Fans

Apart from these achievements, Chungha's full album "Querencia" was reviewed by NME, a popular magazine in the United Kingdom, and what the singer got are praises. NME noted that "Querencia" has sounds of Latin genres and the title itself comes from a Spanish word that means "a place where one finds peace of mind" or can be their true self. The British magazine even described Kim as "one of K-pop's most in-demand stars."

In addition, NME defined Chungha's new song "Bicycle" as "the most outrageously brilliant banger of the year so far." Rhian Daly of the British magazine went on to say that "each [of the song in the album] is an attention-grabbing palette cleanser."

Kim Chungha also got hot reactions from domestic fans. In particular, the K-pop solo artist's album was highly praised for being an eco-friendly album with minimal plastic and lamination. Moreover, keywords such as "Chungha" and "Chungha comeback" are among the top terms on Naver's real-time search.

Meanwhile, in a press conference, the female idol described "Querencia" as her "safe haven" and she hopes that the album will become a refuge for her fans as well.
