Former Idol Managers Reveal Why They Sometimes Don't Allow Fans Giving Gifts to Idols
Back on July 9, a video titled "A shocking confession of a former manager who worked at S and R entertainments" was uploaded on the Youtube channel called "AYO."
Former idol managers Nam Yoon Jae and Baek Gyung Jae made a guest appearance in the video, where they answered various questions from netizens who sent in their questions regarding their life as a manager for male and female K-Pop idols.
In particular, one netizen sent in a question which describes the situation of an idol accepting gifts and letters from fans, however, the managers stop the fans and are labeled as "terrible" people.

Baek Gyung Jae then explains that idols do want to accept the gifts and letters from fans because of their love for them, however, as a manager, there could be chaos or trouble if they don't control the situation.
He further explains that when there are a lot of people, it becomes very difficult to take care of the idol.
Nam Yoon Jae shares an example of a situation of fans giving idols gifts. "Fans would go 'I made this lunch box, can I give it to them [idols]?'" However, there had been an incident in which an idol was poisoned due to the lunch box and food that were given to them by fans.
Hence, the managers can't help but control the situation, and sometimes not allowing fans to give their gifts, in order to protect the idols' safety and their health.
The two managers also mention that not all fans are like that, and some of them even help them out by controlling the situation - such as asking other fans to make way for the idols. To which the managers say they are thankful as it makes their work easier.

Former Idol Managers Talk About Managers Assaulting Fans
In addition, the two managers also touched on the topic of managers allegedly assaulting fans.
The managers begin by saying that managers who assault fans are a problem. They explain that they don't physically fight fans, but push them.
As young students who want to see their favorite idols tend to not follow their orders when it comes to them, despite being told to keep their distance, the managers try to stop them when there becomes a fight and they push too much.
"A lot of dangerous situations happen at the scene to idols and managers more than you think. Idols can't tell them 'Don't come!' to protect themselves from fans who come to see them. But we need to prevent accidents, so it might look that way [assaulting fans]," explained Nam Yoon Jae.
