In the K-pop industry, coming out as a member of the LGBTQ+ community is indeed a tough decision. However, K-pop idols such as former Wassup Jiae, Som Hein, and more are some of the brave stars who mustered their courage and stand proud as bisexuals.
Here are the idols and other personalities in the K-pop scene who came out as bisexuals:
1. Former Wassup Jiae
On July 13, former Wassup Jiae updated her current status with her girlfriend on her Instagram. The idol posted a photo hugging another girl, with the caption,"It was difficult, hard, eventful, and whatever was LG or BT." In particular, "LGBT" is an acronym for lesbian, gay, bisexual, and transgender.
The post gained divided opinions from internet users, to which some expressed support, while other netizens raised their brows against her post. Following this, she slammed haters by saying on the 18th, "Let's not hide our feelings. Let's love. If that's what you need to go to hell, I'll go."
Jiae came out as bisexual in January last year saying, "I love men and women. Do you understand?," along with an IG story of her girlfriend.
2. Aquinas
On July 13, rapper Aquinas (Kang Minsoo) also confessed that he's bisexual. Through his Instagram account, he wrote, "I'm bisexual," engraved on a bisexual flag photo.
If you are not familiar with him, he made his face and name known after winning the second runner-up in the Mnet competition program "High School Rapper 3" in 2019.
Aquinas then said in an interview, "Those who have been shunned by their families just because they are LGBT people, those who have been hurt by people around them, etc. I can imagine how hard it must have been."
He added, "We're not bad, and we are nothing special. But everyone is the same human being. I will also live hard so that I can give courage to other people in the LGBT community."

3. Som Hein
Som Hein is a popular ulzzang (internet goddess) who was initially loved by fans as a K-pop idol trainee. In 2017, she joined Mnet's "Idol School" but unfortunately left due to health issues.
In 2019, she debuted as a solo artist and announced that she's actually bisexual in the same year. She admitted, "Actually, I like women. I'm bisexual. I like girls, so? Gay is just gay. There's nothing wrong with it."
Hein also introduced a girlfriend along with her confession, but in 2020, they reportedly parted ways.
4. Hwang Sang Hoon
Korean singer and composer Hwang Sang Hoon confessed to being bisexual in 2014. During that time, being queer is still taboo in the Korean music industry; that's why he received tremendous negative responses.
However, he's the person who gave courage to other idols as the first personality in the entertainment industry who came out as a bisexual.
In an interview, he proudly said, "I thought that it was not embarrassing or shameful. You should never force the taste of the majority on an individual."
