Male Idol From 'Produce 101' S2 Sentenced to Probation After Assaulting Ex-Girlfriend
[T/W] A man from an idol group, who also joined Mnet's "Produce 101" Season 2, was sentenced to probation after threatening and injuring his ex-girlfriend with a weapon.

According to Yonhap News Agency on August 19, Kim Tae Kyun, a senior judge at the Seoul Central District Court, sentenced A (male), a member of an idol group, to one year in prison and two years of probation as well as 80 hours of community service on charges of injury, special intimidation, and trespassing against a former girlfriend.
In particular, the incident happened in October 2021 when the couple broke up. The male idol asked his ex to meet him again; however, the latter rejected him, resulting in the star to broke into the girl's house.
The ex-girlfriend suffered from threats with a knife from her former beau, was strangled and had to cure other injuries for two weeks. Report narrated:
"Mr. A, who broke into Ms. B's house through the veranda, strangled B's neck with his arm and forced him to continue seeing him while aiming at the fruit knife placed in the kitchen."

A neighbor of the victim testified that they heard her scream at the time of the crime and immediately rang the doorbell. However, it was revealed that the male idol threatened his former lover with the weapon with the intention of "not screaming."
As a result, the court said:
"The quality of the crime and the punishment are heavy in light of the details of the crime and the number of crimes committed. The victim seems to have been greatly shocked and suffered, and the defendant has not yet been forgiven by the victim."
However, the court explained the background of the sentence, saying:
"We considered the fact that the defendant confessed to the crime, that he appeared to have committed the crime somewhat accidentally, and that he was a first-time offender with no criminal record."
Who is the Male Idol in the Assault Case?
Although the specific name of the defendant was not revealed by the court, the media outlet released important details hinting at the identity of the male idol.
According to reports, the male idol is 26 years old, making him a 95/96 liner. He is also a singer, who participated in Mnet's "Produce 101" Season 2, the survival program that launched boy group Wanna One.
On online communities such as Instiz, fans listed down all participants who fit the description.

Some of the named idols include MY.st Jung Woncheol, ONEUS Lee Gun Min, Rainz Wontak and Kiwon, who are active now.
Names of those who have group experience and appeared on the show were also included such as Ong Seongwu, Lim Youngmin, Choi Minki, Kim Yongguk and Kim Jaehwan.
Fans also expressed curiosity if who's the male idol in question and hoped that it will be revealed to prevent future accusations against innocent idols.
