(G)I-DLE Channel Marilyn Monroe in 'Nxde' M/V for 'I Love' Comeback

(G)I-DLE Makes Dazzling Comeback With Mini Album 'I Love' and Lead Single 'Nxde'

On October 17 at 6pm KST, (G)I-DLE makes a dazzling return as they make a comeback with their new mini album, which comes seven months after the group released their first-ever studio album "I Never Die," back on March 14 of this year.

The five-piece girl group excited fans when they finally dropped their fifth mini album "I Love" across various music platforms, with the album presenting a sexier, and more mature charm from the members.

"I Love" contains a total of six tracks centering on various themes of love and emotion. It features the title track "Nxde," pronounced as "nude," with other songs in included in the album being "Love," "Change," "Reset," "Sculpture," and "Dark (X-File)."

In particular, the title track "Nxde" is an alternative pop song that samples an aria from "Habanera" from Georges Bizet's 1875 opéra comique Carmen. The track, which features a jazzy rhythm, was written and produced by (G)I-DLE member Soyeon, alongside Pop Time and Kako.

For the accompanying music video, the five (G)I-DLE members transformed to channel Hollywood icon, Marilyn Monroe. Throughout the music video, the members showcased their alluring and sexy charms, as they expressed their motivation to fight the stereotypes and misconceptions of a showgirl.

Regarding the song, Soyeon explained the concept, saying, "I compared the undecorated and dignified figure to the nude. And in some ways, it could be seen as obscene or it could be too lewd. But I consider nude not as just being naked, but being bare."

With their modern take on retro costumes and makeup, in addition to the choreography, the "Nxde" music video gave off the impression of watching a musical.

More About 'I Love' Album's Production

Regarding the concept of their new album, Soyeon had previously stated they she wanted to break the stereotypical image of a "dumb blonde" and showcase how they can be smart women. In fact, this stereotype had been placed on Marilyn Monroe, who inspired the group's album, during her time.

Aside from "Nxde," Soyeon also actively participated in producing the rest of the album's songs, such that she was the sole lyricist for four of the songs in "I Love."

Fellow members Minnie and Yuqi also had a hand in creating the album. In particular, Minnie also wrote the lyrics for "Change" and "Sculpture," in which she also helped with the composition.

As for Yuqi, she only took part in the composition of "Reset" and "Dark (X-File)."
