10+ K-pop Idols Who Left Their Groups in 2022: Apink Naeun, Oh My Girl Jiho, More

One of the common things that happens in the K-pop industry is that one or multiple members of idol groups eventually leave the team and their agency. Among the reasons for their depature are the expiration of their exclusive contracts, their wish to pursue a different career, health issues like anxiety, and sometimes controversies.

This 2022, numerous K-pop idols left their groups and companies, each with different reasons. Check out the list below!

1. Denise left Secret Number

On Feb. 1, Denise took to her personal Instagram account to announce that her contract with Secret Number's agency, Vine Entertainment, has ended. She didn't specify, however, the reason she decided not to renew her contract with the label.

2. Wondae left DKZ

After going on a hiatus in August 2021 due to shoulder injury he obtained while practicing individually, DKZ Wondae ultimately left his group on March 18 because of health issues. At the same time of his departure, the band (formerly called DONGKIZ) changed its name to the current one.

3. Naeun left Apink

Almost a year after not renewing her contract with IST Entertainment, Son Naeun left Apink on April 8. The female idol announced her departure on Instagram on that day and said that she will become a Panda (Apink's fan) from now on.

4. Chihoon left TO1

On April 30, WAKEONE Entertainment announced that Chihoon left TO1. The only reason the company mentioned is that the idol's exclusive contract with them has ended.

5. Jiho Left Oh My Girl

Oh My Girl Jiho is another K-pop idol who left her group this 2022. On May 9, WM Entertainment revealed that Jiho decided not to renew her contract with the company to reach her new dream.

6. Sitala left H1-KEY

Thai member Sitala left H1-KEY May 25, five months after her debut, due to personal circumstances. Her departure came after she was involved in a controversy.

7. Chiwoo left KINGDOM

KINGDOM member Chiwoo also left his group and his company on May 25. GF Entertainment explained that he decided to end his exclusive contract due personal circumstances.

8. Jiyoon left Weeekly

On June 1, IST Entertainment announced Jiyoon will permanently end her activities as a Weeekly member due to health concerns (symptoms of anxiety). However, Jiyoon stated that she was kicked out of the band.)

9. Minsu, Jerome & Woong Gi left TO1

Following the departure of Chihoon, three more members of TO1 left the group. Woong Gi, Minsu, and Jerome decided to leave the group on June 17 and prepare for a fresh start.

10. Gyuri left fromis_9

fromis_9 Gyuri is also part of our list of K-pop idols who left their groups in 2022. The female idol departed from the group on July 28 since her original contract with her former company (Off the Record Entertainment) expired and she has not signed a new contract with PLEDIS Entertainment.

11. Judy and Youngheun left BLACKSWAN

Two members of BLACKSWAN, Judy and Youngheun, officially left the band on July 31. Their agency, DR Music, announced that the two girls decided to end their activities as BLACKSWAN members in order to fulfill their new dreams.

12. Heo Chan left VICTON

Heo Chan is another K-pop idol who left his group this 2022 following a controversy. after being caught driving under the influence of alcohol on Sept. 20. He then did not wish to cause further damage to the group and the other members, so he left on Oct. 11.

13. Dylan left D-CRUNCH

Prior to D-CRUNCH's disbandment, member Dyland departed from the band on Oct. 22 due to health issues. In November 2021, he went on a hiatus due to worsening symptoms of psychological anxiety.

14. Huiyeon & Jian left LIGHTSUM

LIGHTSUM is another K-pop girl group that saw two members leave. Huiyeon and Jian left on Oct. 25, but CUBE Entertainment did not specify the reason.

15. Ravn Left ONEUS

On Oct. 27, Ravn left ONEUS after being accused by his alleged ex-girlfriend of cheating on her and making her pay for everything throughout their two-year relationship.

16. Yedam and Mashiho left TREASURE

The departure of TREASURE members Bang Yedam and Mashiho is probably one of the most shocking and heartbreaking this 2022. After being inactive in group activities, Yedam left on Nov. 8 to pursue a career as a producer, while Mashiho will focus on recovering from his poor health condition.

17. Jieun left PURPLE KISS

On Nov. 18, RBW announced Jieun's departure from PURPLE KISS. They explained that it's because of continuous poor health conditions and symptoms of anxiety.
