TWICE's 'Feel Special' Earns Double Platinum, BTS & BLACKPINK Receive Gold Certifications

The industry has released its newest set of music certifications.

The Recording Industry Association of Japan (RIAJ) has included TWICE on their batch, who received a double platinum certification for 2019 hit "Feel Special." The track earned the certificate after exceeding 200 million streams.

Notably, this led TWICE to have their first-ever double platinum certification and "Feel Special" has become the group's first song to attain the accomplishment.

Although TWICE has received double platinum certifications for physical album sales, this feat indicates their first-ever double platinum in streaming. Meanwhile, they were also joined by fellow biggest K-pop groups BTS and BLACKPINK.

According to the report made by RIAJ, BTS received a gold certification for their 2018 Japanese track "Don't Leave Me." It was trailed by girl group BLACKPINK, who earned gold status for "Pink Venom." Moreover, both songs have surpassed 50 million streams.

The RIAJ established a brand new certification system for online streaming in 2020. This is to serve as an addition to its certification approaches on digital download sales and physical album deliveries.

The new system enumerates certain statuses with its required performance. It states that once a track reaches 30 million streams, it would be certified as silver. It would also be certified gold when it amasses 50 million streams, and platinum certification at 100 million streams.

TWICE, BTS, More Land Spots on Billboard's 2021 World Digital Song Sales Chart

Outside of the RIAJ, numerous K-pop artists have accomplished feats on Billboard's 2021 World Digital Song Sales chart. In January 2021, TWICE secured the chart's No. 1 position for the week ending on January 2, 2021, with their song "Cry For Me."

BTS also made headlines on Billboard's 2021 World Digital Song Sales chart with "Life Goes On," which ranked at No. 2. Prior to its placement, "Life Goes On" defended its No. 1 spot for four weeks since its album "BE" was released.

EXO Baekhyun managed to claim the No. 10 with "Amusement Park." This was followed by BLACKPINK's "How You Like That" on No. 15, and GOT7 Jackson's "Should've Let Go" (feat. JJ Lin) landing on No. 19 for the first time.
