In a broadcast, former Super Junior Kangin opened up about the reason for his withdrawal from the group. He also updated on his relationship with his former co-members.

Kangin Recalls 'Last Straw' That Made Him Leave Super Junior

Kangin, a former Super Junior member who was inactive for about seven years, made his first public appearance through the YouTube channel "Someone Else's Life."

In the documentary vlog, Kangin shared his real thoughts and feelings, especially about his former group, Super Junior. Regarding how he debuted with the team, Kangin, who initially wanted to become a P.E. teacher, narrated:

"I was scouted (by SM) by chance. I went to a writing contest at school and got a business card. I was a trainee for nearly five years, and I had a good opportunity to work as a team (Super Junior)."

Since then, the male idol established his name as a K-pop icon, creating numerous hits such as "Sorry, Sorry," "Mr. Simple," "U," and more.

Unfortunately, his popularity would eventually come crashing down after being involved in various assault and drunk-driving controversies in 2009, 2016, and 2017.

To reflect, Kangin decided to enter the military. After his discharge, he went back to SM Entertainment and Super Junior.

Initially, ELFs (Super Junior fandom) wanted him to promote again with the group, regardless of some who wanted him to leave.

Kangin confessed that he also wanted to join the team again. Unfortunately, something happened again, and that became the "last straw" for him to ultimately leave the group.

"I'm so sorry that I can't raise my head to Super Junior members, so I wanted to return and help the team somehow, but there was an article at the end that caused some misunderstanding."

Kangin then recalled how he was unfairly mentioned for being involved in Jung Joon Young's controversial group chat. Although Label SJ immediately clarified that he wasn't involved, Kangin continued:

"I thought time would solve it, but people did believe what I didn't do, and because the name Super Junior was mentioned again, although, I really didn't want to do it, I told the company and voluntarily left the group."

The singer once again bowed his head, saying:

"I'm always sorry to my colleagues and friends. I'll be sorry for the rest of my life."

Is Kangin Still Close With Super Junior Members?

Following his withdrawal from the group in 2019, Kangin remained away from the limelight. However, there are times he gets spotted hanging out and being mentioned by his former co-members, drawing curiosity about his closeness with them.

Regarding this, Kangin replied:

"It's hard to say that (I'm) only (closest) with one member.

If I were those friends, I would never meet myself again. I thought they will resent and hate me, but it's never like that. Rather, they worry about my future more than me."
