Super Junior Ryeowook Compliments RIIZE Sohee for Vocals, Requests Idol to Cover One of His Songs

On November 27, Ryeowook appeared as a special guest on YouTube channel "Heyday," where he reviewed the vocal performances of his juniors in SM Entertainment.

Ryeowook is a longtime veteran in the K-pop industry, well-loved for his golden vocals and impactful performances. The idol was treated to view the performances of aespa members Winter and NingNing, alongside NCT Doyoung, Taeil, and Haechan.

The "Mr. Simple" singer gave his insightful take on each performance, threading on the idols' range, pitch, and commendable singing techniques.

While the idol complimented all juniors for their talent and potential, the person who caught Ryeowook's attention the most was none other than Sohee of RIIZE. Before the review started, Ryeowook was asked if he was close to any rookie idols in the fourth and fifth generations.

Ryeowook then replied that he was anticipating Sohee's vocal improvement.

Question: "Are you close with the fourth and fifth generation groups?"

Ryeowook: "I want to be closer to them. I mean, it's hard for us too, like 'How could we get close to them?' I feel like approaching them would make them feel uncomfortable."

Ryeowook: "I'm not really that close, but there is a junior artist that I really like. Sohee of RIIZE, he's just so good at singing. I'm looking forward to how much more he'll improve in the future."

After reviewing Sohee's singing, Ryeowook shared his thoughts on his vocal tone and ability to sing high notes with effort. Ryeowook was also amazed with Sohee's cover of Na Yoon Kwon's "If It Was Me," and even hoped the RIIZE member would also cover one of his songs.

Ryeowook: "Listening to Sohee's voice, he has a strong mid-bass, yet he can also sing high notes too. You must have an attractive voice to appeal yourself nowadays, so I think Sohee would ace this."

Ryeowook: "I didn't know he sang 'If It Was Me.' Sohee, he's just so good! He must've been really nervous that time. He's a new artist, yet he's not even singing his own song, it's a cover, plus he knows he has to get it right."

Ryeowook: "I bet he was extremely nervous. He must've sung the song while his vocal cords were not relaxed. But despite singing it in that condition, he did it so well! So it would be great if Sohee would cover my song. Isn't that right, Sohee? Thanks!"
