A Chinese MY (aespa's fan base) has begged Giselle to not date an ugly man during a fan call.

It's only the first half of 2024, and yet the K-pop and K-drama industries have seen several couples confirm their relationship. Recently, TWICE's Jihyo was linked to Olympian athlete Yun Sung Bin. Within fourth-generation idols, Karina confirmed she was dating actor Lee Jae Wook.

As more idol relationships are confirmed, fans are openly talking to their idols about their future significant others.

Fan Begs aespa Giselle to Not Date an 'Ugly Man'

On March 28, 2024, a Chinese fan shared a screen recording of her fan call with aespa's Giselle on Weibo.

In the video, she is seen holding a sign in Korean for the idol to read. As Giselle tries to read her message, the fan can be heard saying in English, "Don't look for ugly men. Look for (a) handsome one, okay?"

Hearing this, Giselle burst out laughing. At Giselle's reaction, the fan is heard saying, "Oh, please!", in Korean.

Giselle then reads the fan's letter aloud, laughing as she finishes reading it. At the end, Giselle leans back and looks into the camera, nodding her head and saying, "Okay!", in Korean.

The fan can also be heard saying, "Yes, yes," as Giselle reads the sign.

This is not the first time a K-pop idol has been asked to not date an ugly man. Earlier this month, a video of (G)I-DLE's Miyeon being asked to read a placard with the words "Please don't date an ugly man" went viral on X (formerly Twitter).

In the video, Miyeon can be seen bursting into laughter after reading the message. She reassured her fans, saying, "Okay! Don't worry!"

As the fan continued to beg in broken Korean to not date an ugly man, Miyeon shook her head to say she would not be dating an ugly man.

K-Netz Reacts to aespa Giselle Being Asked to Not Date an 'Ugly' Man

On March 29, 2024, a post titled "This meme went to aespa in the end" was uploaded to a well-known South Korean online community forum. The original poster (OP) shared a screenshot of Giselle from the fan call as she read the note.

Reactions to the fan call were mixed. Many believed that the fan talking to Giselle was shading Karina's boyfriend, Lee Jae Wook, and defended the actor. Many stated the actor is good-looking, so there is no way he is one of the "ugly" men the fan is referring to.

Instead, it is believed the meme came about after Han So Hee confirmed she was dating actor Ryu Jun Yeol.

While some found it funny and shrugged it off as a casual meme, others believed the fan should have more tact, especially since Giselle's co-member recently confirmed their relationship.
