Amid the getting younger average ages of K-pop groups, BEWAVE emphasized their team having all members in their 20s. Who are the members?

On April 17, a new six-member girl group BEWAVE debuted with their first mini-album, "BE; WAVE," along with its title track, "SING."

During their press conference held at Ilchi Art Hall in Gangnam-gu, Seoul, the sextet introduced the members, the group's concept and what made them unique among the influx of 5th-gen girl groups debuting this 2024.

Formed by GOLDDUST Entertainment, the team is comprised of six members: Yunseul, Jiun, Lena, Zena, Gowoon, and Ain.

Prior to their debut, their faces became familiar among K-pop and music fans since all of them were pre-debut trainees of other existing girl groups.

Starting with Jiun, she almost debuted as a member of Young Posse, while Lena and Gowoon were pre-debut members of LAPILLUS and Mimiirose, respectively. In addition to them, Ain is a former S2 trainee who was a prospective member of KISS OF LIFE.

Zena was then first seen as a participant in SBS's "My Teenage Girl" which created CLASS:y and lastly, Yunseul is a former pre-debut member of OAHSIS who also joined "MIXNINE."

Amid the debut of various rookie girl groups, BEWAVE claimed that their unique advantage was the fact that all members were already adults, having their oldest born in 2001 (23 years old) and their youngest born in 2004 (20 years old).

As a result, the six-member girl group is confident that they could show empathy and true youth with members in their 20s in the music industry.

Regarding their concept, BEWAVE stated that if IVE's keyword is "narcissism" while aespa is "wilderness (KWANGYA), their group will introduce "empathy."

Ain replied:

"Our theme is ‘empathy.’ Our goal is to make music that listeners can empathize with."

In addition to this, Lena said that their average height of 170cm is also an advantage for them to execute cool choreographies.

Just like their name, BEWAVE, the group aims to:

"Gather as a sextet and create a new and overwhelming blue wave with their charms. Like the start of wave surfing where the waves were sometimes strong or gentle, BEWAVE embarks on creating their own flow."

BEWAVE Releases 1st Mini-Album 'BE;WAVE'

Meanwhile, the rookie group's debut album, " BE;WAVE" is an album that contains the six-member charm that is like a gentle and strong wave.

The title song 'SING!' is centered around the members' clear voices on a cheerful melody that adds Latin sensibility to the hip-hop base.

Yunseul introduced it as:

 “This is a song with strong addictiveness, and you will feel like swimming.”

A total of 4 songs are included, including ‘Sing!’ and its intro song, "Blue Wave," and "Shine." The b-side track, "SHINE" is a remake of Sugar's song with the same name, expressing their determination to give generous love.
