When the results came, K-pop fans analyzed the data and while both songs are reigning on various charts domestically and internationally, one of the biggest factors why ILLIT won was due to their 5,000 score on the digital category (based on Circle Global Kpop) versus 1k of BAEMON.

Other than that, BABYMONSTER dominated in the SNS and pre-voting categories which are participated by global fans.

Just then, K-netizens were in real awe after seeing that BABYMONSTER also secured the live broadcast voting category by earning 92% votes, which were selected by Koreans.

When an OP showed curiosity about this on Nate Pann, Koreans explained why they opted for BAEMON over ILLIT.

In the early comments, before the post was flocked with mixed opinions, K-netizens emphasized that they did it to finally see the encore of BABYMONSTER amid their viral videos cementing their impressive live vocals.

Netters then criticized ILLIT for their unchanging live vocals during their music show's encore.

  • "There were a lot of people who voted to see BABYMONSTER's encore."
  • "I'm not a fan but I voted because I wanted to see BABYMONSTER's encore."

  • "I felt like there were so many people waiting for BAEMON's encore, haha."
  • "Because I can trust and listen to BABYMONSTER's live."
  • "Because we are tired of these tone-deaf people."

  • "It's almost the first time in my life that I also voted."
  • "I'm not a fan either, but I left a comment saying I wanted to see their encore. Someone replied to me that I should have voted, so I did."

Earlier, ILLIT who debuted with its title track, "Magnetic" captured the love of mainstream and K-pop fans for its addictive sound and choreography. In contrast, BABYMONSTER received criticism for releasing "Sheesh," which some fans claimed was "disappointing."

As both groups started promoting their respective songs in various shows, the public opinions of ILLIT and BABYMONSTER completely changed.

ILLIT became the center of criticism for their "unstable" live vocals and called them "talentless." They were also named as a group that lowers the quality of K-pop.

On the flip side, BAEMON gained rave reviews for their excellent live vocals, praising them for maintaining the K-pop standards and legacy when it comes to singing skills.
