The conflict revolves around HYBE's audit request from Min Hee Jin, ADOR's attempts to become independent, and the direct claims of ILLIT copying NewJeans.

Earlier on April 22, HYBE filed an audit from ADOR's management and its CEO Min Hee Jin. Korean news outlets reported that the audit was requested after HYBE detected ADOR's attempts to become independent.

This led to a meeting between shareholders with the aim of holding ADOR's management liable, as well as assigning an extra ADOR director coming from HYBE. Outlets also reported that HYBE filed a document requesting Min Hee Jin's resignation as the CEO of ADOR.

On the same day (April 22), Min Hee Jin released a statement via ADOR, which addressed the circulating claims of ILLIT "copying" NewJeans. ADOR also mentioned that both BELIFT LAB and HYBE were responsible for the alleged copying.

ADOR also called out HYBE for attempting "media play" with claims of Min Hee Jin trying to seize the multi-label's management rights. ADOR also assured that it will protect the cultural achievements of NewJeans.
