Pokemon X And Y Glitch Wonder Trade Update: Fans Debate Over Bad Egg Origin And Rarity Of Occurrence

Pokemon X and Y have been released, and aside from some glitches which have been addressed in a recent patch, one particular glitch related to Wonder Trade continue to be debated amongst Pokemon fans.

As previously reported, some Pokemon X and Y fans have reported receiving "Bad Eggs" through Wonder Trade, which allegedly has game-breaking side effects like filling up your boxes and deleting any Pokemon saved within them.

Originally, some have accused hackers tampering with X and Y of producing these "Bad Eggs" and subsequently trading them through Wonder Trade, but now, others are certain the problem lies within a bug in the game.

"This bad egg stuff has been reported/documented since the game's launch. It's not likely to be the hacker's fault, since he stated he wouldn't distribute hacked Pokémon, and more likely to be some bad data processing during the trade," theorizes Raissa Kuzer.

A YouTube video of a Pokemon X and Y gamer bemoaning the "Bad Egg" glitch also seems to indicate that perhaps hacking has nothing to do with the glitch, given the post date of the video.

"This video is not a result of hacked bad eggs. Please people, look at the post date of the video [Oct. 13] which was one day after release," writes Brade on YouTube.

"The game wasn't hacked back then, this is a result of an already known bug, which was most likely patched out in 1.1 since it hasn't occurred since."

Right now, the only known person who allegedly received a "Bad Egg" through hacking is the hacker who has unveiled the Latias and Latios Mega Evolution as well as the three other hidden Pokemon.

Which begs the question, how worried should Pokemon X and Y fans be of Wonder Trade and this mysterious glitch?

Right now, people are claiming that the probabilities are so low that using Wonder Trade should be fine. Others, however, disagree.

"I can vouch that Lucy did have a Bad Egg obtained in a Wonder Trade," writes ShinyFlygon on Facebook. "I know because I have one of her Pokemon that got traded out of the game before it got reset."

In the end, it seems Pokemon X and Y fans have two choices: Wonder Trade to your heart's content until further proof surfaces that this glitch remains within the game, or take precaution and wait until this issue is explored further. Fans can always wait until Pokemon Bank comes out next month, for example, before doing Wonder Trade again.

Stay tuned to see if more cases are reported of this Pokemon X and Y glitch.
