Rain Gets Personal in Upcoming Reality Series 'Rain Effect'

Rain has long been one of the most popular stars of the Korean wave, with countless screaming fans all across the planet.

The singer has been dormant for the last two years while he fulfilled his mandatory military service, but has been hard at work since his discharge and has a lot of exciting plans for 2014.

At the moment Rain is stateside filming for his latest Hollywood film The Prince, an action film where he plays alongside Bruce Willis. He also recently finished working on a new album slated to be released on January 6.

On December 11, reps for the singer-actor were still unsure if Rain would hold an official comeback stage on any of the televised music programs, what with his already jam-packed schedule, but fans needn't worry.

It was also revealed that Rain would be the subject of a new reality show, Rain Effect, scheduled to premiere next Thursday, December 19 on Mnet.

"As previously revealed during the recent MAMA, Rain's reality program Rain Effect will air ahead of his comeback this coming January," explained a statement from broadcaster Mnet.

The focus of the reality show will be the whole package - the balance he finds between being international superstar Rain and normal guy Jung Ji Hoon.

"Viewers will be able to see Rain's real image and his innocent charm as the man Jun Ji Hoon," said Mnet. The cameras follow the iconic celebrity "as he returns from his two-year hiatus, prepares for his new album, and lives as a world star."

Rain Effect producer Shin Chun Ji expanded, "Fans are curious about Rain's glamorous status as a world star and his hidden everyday life." The new reality show is charged with giving viewers a closer look at the singer's personal life and how it coincides with his fame.

Rain Effect will hit the airwaves December 19 at 10pm KST on Mnet.
