Shinhwa to Sponsor Animal Shelters Across Korea with 2 Tons of Pet Food

Veteran K-Pop idols Shinhwa are spreading the holiday cheer to man's best friend.

The members of legendary pop group Shinhwa revealed that for the next year they will be sponsoring animal shelters across South Korea by teaming up with animal food company Petman to provide two tons of food.

The charitable act is an extension of the group's television reality program, Shinhwa Broadcast.

On December 22, reps from the program tweeted, "Shinhwa, who showed much affection towards animals in the "Sansoo's Angels" episode of the program, promised to sponsor 2 tons of food with Petman to animal shelters all over the nation for one year. Thumbs up for this warm news that makes us forget about the cold winter."

The Shinhwa members reportedly signed the sponsorship contract with Petman on December 16 to donate an entire year's worth of food to all of Korea's pet shelters.

Shinhwa is a six-member boy band that debuted in 1998 and were among Korea's first Hallyu stars.

Their variety program Shinhwa Broadcast premiered in 2012 and last month kicked off its second season with a revamped format.

The new season follows the theme 'Small Legends Found by Shinhwa' and highlights stories of unsung heroes across the many varied South Korea communities.
