T-ARA Jiyeon's Nongshim ramen commercial in Japan is becoming a hot issue.

Last year, T-ARA was chosen as Japan Nongshim's commercial models. Nongshim revealed a how-to-eat video through their website, shared by T-ARA’s members.

The video of the members making ramen and eating was good entertainment to their fans, but many internet users seemed to have a problem with Jiyeon eating ramen with the lid of the pot.

Cutting the noodles with mouths or eating directly from the pot is considered very rude in Japan. Japanese internet users who saw this video left negative comments, "This is rude," and "She has bad manners, is this how Koreans eat.”

Other internet users commented, "We are willing to respect the culture of other countries but teaching us to eat like this in Japan is wrong. This is uncomfortable to watch," and "It's good to be teaching us about the Korean culture but you also need to do a bit more research."

There were also a few that came to her defense stating, "I've seen this often in Korean dramas. I guess they really eat it like that, I want to buy a pot like that today," and "This is cute, let's stop seeing it with distorted eyes.”
