'The Matrix' is now hailed as a modern classic. The 1999 film by the Wachowski Brothers blew us away with its groundbreaking ideas and masterful execution.

Two more Matrix films to complete the trilogy and suddenly, the impact has faded. The pedestrian nature of the films proved that all good things must come to an end.

But not The Matrix, or the Wachowski brothers' (or should it be siblings?) careers. The pair has continued to reap the fruits of "The Matrix" in the form of expensive and ambitious being greenlighted by Warner Bros--the latest of which is the upcoming sci-fi epic "Jupiter Ascending" which had an alleged budget of close to $ 200million (according to IMDB).

Thus, "Jupiter Ascending" is like a last chance for the former Wachowski brothers with Warner Brothers. Unless of course, they propose some insurance. From Latino Review, rumors of a new trilogy came about and there's a possibility that it will be a prequel:

"Warner Bros. is desperate for a surefire franchise and will be making a push to have the new Matrix films ready to up against any new Star Wars and Avatar films by 2017.

So the big question, will Mr. Anderson be back? Who knows!! One of the early outlines was about the birth of the Matrix and now that WB is Terminator-less, some of suits would like to explore that early world but it's way too early and the story is still very fluid.

I've been also told to that the previous animated Matrix films will not have any effect on the live action movies.

It is not entirely out of left field if the Wachowskis to actually write this movie. Perhaps they already have. The rumor of a Matrix reboot spread two years ago, only to be debunked.

The rumor has no basis as yet and is highly speculative. Perhaps somebody did take the blue pill.
