Mrs Doubtfire 2 Inks Deal With Two Original Cast Members? Movie Joins Bandwagon Of Sequels Less Mara Wilson!

"Mrs. Doubtfire" 2 has piqued the interest of the two original cast members, except Mara Wilson, as the Robin Williams' starrer joined a bandwagon of sequels because as one Forbes' scribe puts it, "Hollywood seems so scared of something new."

According to TMZ, Matthew Lawrence who played the original Chris, the son of Robin Williams' character, has signified his interest to be on board the "Mrs. Doubtfire" sequel.

"I hope they make the second as good as the first," said the actor. "The first was so good. It will be great to get the family back together."

Lisa Jakub, who played the character Lydia Hillard, told Huffington Post that if ever she would be asked to star in the film, she would decide based on the script.

"But I feel like if anybody can come up with something that is both hilarious and also very meaningful, it is going to be this team," she said.

To even drum up interest for the "Mrs. Doubtfire" sequel, Lisa Jakub even posted on social media an April 5, 1993 photo of her holding a calf along with the caption:
"#MrsDoubtfire2 recap. @MaraWritesStuff=out, Matt=in, me=undecided. Gomer the cow is on the fence-wants to see script."

One original cast member who will definitely be out of "Mrs. Doubtfire" 2 is Mara Wilson who took to Twitter to say that she doesn't want to be a part of the sequel.

"I've been in some mediocre movies, but I've never been in a sequel. And I have no interest in being in one now," she wrote. "Sequels generally suck unless they were planned as part of a trilogy or series. I think Doubtfire ended where it needed to end."

Scott Mendelson wrote on Forbes that the "Mrs. Doubtfire" sequel is just sad as the producers seems to be rebooting old films following rumors of a Goonies sequel, "Beetlejuice 2," "Dumb and Dumber To" and "Ghostbusters 3."

He said the news of these sequels along with "Mrs Doubtfire" 2 is making him a little sad.

"The stench in the air isn't greed or fear of the new, but rather a token amount of desperation," he wrote.
