‘Here Comes Honey Boo Boo’ Cancellation Controversy: Daddy Sugar Bear ‘A Little Bit Upset’ On Mama June’s Alleged Relationship With Convicted Child Molester

The "Here Comes Honey Boo Boo" cancellation took place because of Mama June's alleged reconciliation with registered sex offender Mark McDaniel. The network has expressed concern over the children's safety and for the first time, Alana's father, Mike Thompson speaks out.

When TMZ asked Thompson, who's also known as Sugar Bear, if he was upset about the controversy, he responded, "A little bit." He likewise expressed his disappointment over the "Here Comes Honey Boo Boo" cancellation.

The "Toddlers and Tiaras" spin-off is supposed to have a new season in January 2015. However, news surfaced that Mama June reconnected with McDaniel who allegedly abused Honey Boo Boo's sister, Anna or Chickadee, when she was little.

In an interview with People magazine, Chickadee, who's now 20, recalled how McDaniel molested her when she was 8: "[He} would try and touch me and all that stuff."

She also recalled how she told Mama June about the abuse: "A week or so after it happened, I talked to Mama, and she was upset, crying and saying, 'I don't believe you. I don't believe you. Why would you do this to me?'"

"And I was like, 'Mama, he did that to me and I can't do anything about it. You were never there to see it you were always at work,'" she said.

Mama June, on the other hand, denied the rumors of her getting back with McDaniel through a video posted on Honey Boo Boo's Facebook fan page: "I would not ever, ever, ever put my kids in danger. I love my kids too much. That is my past. I have not seen that person in 10 years and don't want to see that person."

Despite her statement, TLC has released its final decision to ax the well-loved series.

"TLC has canceled the series 'Here Comes Honey Boo Boo' and ended all activities around the series, effective immediately. Supporting the health and welfare of these remarkable children is our only priority. TLC is faithfully committed to the children's ongoing comfort and well-being," said a representative to USA Today.
