No Hong-chul’s Growing Fan Base Includes American Celebrities

Lately, No Hong-chul, the flamboyant South Korean comedian who is famous for his wild antics, pelvis-thrusting dance moves, and to foreigners as "that elevator guy" in Psy's "Gangnam Style," has been getting recognition from American celebrities.

MBC's "Infinite Challenge," which aired Saturday in Korea, broadcast Psy's "Dick Clark's New Year's Rockin' Eve" performance in New York's Times Square. Before the show, MC Hammer visited a waiting room where Psy was talking to comedians Yu Jae-seok, Haha, and No. Psy asked the American rapper who among the three was most likely to succeed in the United States. MC Hammer pointed to No, who was dressed in a Snoopy costume, and said, "This dog."

Another U.S. celebrity also acknowledge No's potential by joking with him.

Also on Saturday, KBS' "Entertainment Weekly" aired an interview with actress Dakota Fanning, who visited Korea for an endorsement project with luxury jewelry brand J. Estina. Fanning burst out laughing when she was shown a picture of No, who was photographed with a serious expression despite having a poodle-like hairstyle.
