Choi Yena has confirmed her comeback this year. On January 2, KST, Choi Yena announced her comeback with a teaser poster.

The poster depicts what seems like two lovers holding hands together.

On the poster's middle section, a brief message stated "2023.01.16. 6PM [KST] RELEASE," which confirms the comeback will be released on January 16 this year, at 6 P.M. KST.

Choi Yena is one of the most anticipated artists this year, considering her popularity and quirky concepts. She is also known for releasing dopamine-inducing songs, such as her iconic debut track "SMILE" and her peppy track "SMARTPHONE."

With this year's release, it will mark Yena's first comeback in 2023.

Choi Yena's Achievements as Solo Artist After IZ*ONE's Disbandment

Choi Yena kickstarted her career with debut mini-album "Smiley" on January 17, 2022, and has become one of the top female solo artists in K-pop.

Thanks to her remarkable achievements and hard work, she dominated on music charts, as well as music broadcasts.

Yena's "SMILEY" album debuted on No. 9, at Worldwide iTunes Album Chart. The album's lead single, "SMILEY," made its way at No. 79 on the Worldwide iTunes Song Chart.

The titular track reached countries such as Hong Kong, Singapore, Poland, Turkey, Philippines, Australia, and more, entering Top 10 of iTunes Album charts.

Additionally, the title song also made its debut in South Korea, taking place at No. 91 on Genie, No. 67 on Melon's old real-time chart, and No. 8 on Bugs.

After releasing "SMILEY," Yena returned on August 3 with her new mini album "SMARTPHONE," another bubble-gum pop song which her fandom, Jigumis, love and adore due to its upbeat style.

 

For many Jigumis, her comebacks are undoubtedly refreshing, amid all the "girl crush" releases in K-pop.

Choi Yena's second mini-album "SMARTPHONE," sold a whopping 117,382 copies. According to Hanteo, the numbers were covered from August 3 to August 9. The figures have increased since "Smiley," her debut album, sold 64,073 album copies.

Yena's Reflections As Former IZ*ONE Member

On August 5, 2022, Yena appeared in rapper Lee Youngji's show "My Alcohol Diary," featuring as guest for its 6th episode.

 

Youngji asked Yena if she misses her former bandmates. The "SMILEY" hitmaker replied she does indeed miss them. Yena added how grateful she is for being with IZ*ONE, and experiencing memories with the members.

"No one expected that a group called IZ*ONE will form. A lot of people ask me about IZ*ONE and I think there was nothing more worthy experience than it. Who will ever experience something like this?

"It's a very thankful experience. How can a thankful experience like this come to me? I am thankful for all these moments."
