LeBron James Team USA Olympic Career Reportedly Over: 'If The Moment Was Today, The Answer Would Be No' [VIDEO] Where Does King Rank Among Greats Like Michael Jordan?

LeBron James' Team USA career reportedly is over after three Olympic appearances and two gold medals and one bronze.

The 28-year-old back-to-back NBA champion will not participate for Team USA during the 2014 World Championship in Spain next summer. A close source to LeBron James told Yahoo! Sports on Wednesday that his Team USA career is likely over completely and that he will not make the trip to Brazil for a third Olympic gold medal.

"LeBron is going to be three years older during the next Olympics. He will have two older boys. He has a lot to endure with his family," the source told Y! Sports about LeBron James' Team USA career.

"He played in three Olympics. Everyone that knows LeBron knows it's always based on a decision at that moment. But if the moment was today, the answer would be no."

USA Basketball executive director Jerry Colangelo also confirmed to Yahoo! Sports that he doesn't expect James to play next summer - and doesn't plan to ask him.

James was a part of the "Redeem Team" after Team USA won a bronze in 2004. Since then, he's helped lead the team to two gold medals.

As far as matching up against some of the greats to wear the red, white and blue uniform, James might not shine in the statistical categories that some might expect. He is not in the top five in points, rebounds or field-goal percentage in a single Olympics.

It is James' all-around play that helped Team USA to reach two gold medals. Lebron James is fifth all-time in steals and fourth in assists proved that to be true.

If James was to compete in the 2016 Olympics, he would have a chance to make U.S. history as the only male to have three gold medals in the sport. Now, if Chris Paul, Kobe Bryant and Carmelo Anthony decide to play and win the gold, they'll be the ones who make history.
