Blackberry To Be Sold Amidst Marketing Struggle, Analysts Say No One Would Dare Buy

Before the end of 2012, it was evident that Research In Motion (RIM) wanted to revive the company's Blackberry lineup. They made the crucial leap from their well-loved keypad into the world of touchscreen smartphones. They tweaked the design and even added their very own online store to match Android's Google Play and Apple's Apple Store.

But it was not enough.

After years of struggle in the mobile market, rumors has it that RIM is finally considering options for joint venture, or even selling the company. It appears that all of its releases this year, from the Z10 up to the upcoming Z30 would all fail to help the company regain some ground in the market.

While the possibility for joint ventures is looking bright for RIM, getting a potential buyer for the million-dollar company is highly unlikely. In an interview with the New York Times, former PalmSource CEO Jean-Louis Gassé  clearly pointed out that buying a company on a steep slope is not a good move at all.

"Acquiring Blackberry is necrophilia", he said in an email. "The BB brand is tarnished..." Gassé added.

Other notable analysts in the industry have also shared the same opinion, most of them stating that buying a company that has no chances of growing would just be a waste of money.

BMO Capital Markets analyst Tim Long wrote "we don't foresee any scenarios where the value of the company will be significantly larger" any time soon.

So this just means one thing for RIM - either they get a partner right away, or they wait until the company falls apart completely.
