‘How I Met Your Mother’ Season 9 Spoilers: ‘Things Are Definitely Weird’ Between Robin And Ted During Wedding, Cobie Smulders Reveals

"How I Met Your Mother" season 9 premieres September 23, and will be the final season for the popular CBS series. Cobie Smulders, who plays Robin, talked to IGN about season 9, and what her character's wedding will mean for her relationship with Ted, played by Josh Radnor.

Season 9 will take place entirely at Robin and Barney's wedding.

Smulders told IGN: "We're at this wedding, so it's basically all these sets for this weekend getaway place. So that's been weird, but we're just sort of like, 'Let's just do it.' There's so much to do that we're just doing it. Every once in awhile it hits me, 'Oh, this is the last season.' I feel like around the holidays it's going to start to really sink in."

"It feels like a completely different vibe," Smulders continued. "It's nice to switch it up and we're not just sitting in a bar. I mean, there are scenes where we're going to be sitting in the bar, but it kind of makes it feel slightly different. But all the players are there, so it just feels like, 'Oh, things are changing, and that's okay!'"

What does the wedding mean for Ted, who is expected to finally meet his wife at the ceremony? Robin comments on the strange tension there has always been between Ted and Robin, and their romance that has peppered the series.

"I think that there's this stress of the wedding happening, and it's enough to create stress. But I don't know, things are definitely weird between her and Ted," Smulders said.

"They haven't seen each other, so we shot a few scenes where they finally saw each other. There's definitely a lot of tension between them. But it's also like, they've all been friends for so long that it's par for the course. She dated Ted, then she dated Barney, she's kind of back to Ted for a second, and then -- you know, there's a lot going on. But I don't know what's going to happen at the actual wedding," she teased.
