‘American Horror Story’ Season 3 Spoilers, Cast: ‘Coven’ Will Take Place Partly In 1830s New Orleans; Premiere Date Set For October [TRAILER]

FX revealed that "American Horror Story: Coven," season 3 of the TV series, will premiere in October. A new spooky teaser trailer was also released for "American Horror Story" on August 26.

E! News reports that Ryan Murphy's season 3, titled "American Horror Story: Coven," has a premiere date of Wednesday, Oct. 9 at 10 p.m. Like the first two seasons, Jessica Lange will star in the total of 13 episodes. Season 3 of the miniseries will conclude in January 2014.

According to ScreenCrush.com, the FX description of the new season of "American Horror Story" reveals some spoilers into what we can expect in October.

"Over 300 years have passed since the turbulent days of the Salem witch trials and those who managed to escape are now facing extinction. Mysterious attacks have been escalating against their kind and young girls are being sent away to a special school in New Orleans to learn how to protect themselves. Wrapped up in the turmoil is new arrival, Zoe (Taissa Farmiga), who is harboring a terrifying secret of her own. Alarmed by the recent aggression, Fiona (Jessica Lange), the long-absent Supreme, sweeps back into town, determined to protect the Coven and hell-bent on decimating anyone who gets in her way."

ScreenCrush.com reports that season 3 will divide between both present time and 1830s New Orleans to tell its terrifying tale.

"American Horror Story: Coven" will star returning franchise regulars Jessica Lange and Sarah Paulson, who will play Cordelia, a woman who has a very special connection to Jessica Lange's Fiona, E! News reports.

"I play Jessica's daughter this year," Paulson said.

Other returning cast members include Denis O'Hare, Alexandra Breckinridge, Lily Rabe, Taissa Farmiga, Frances Conroy, and Evan Peters, the website reports. In season 3,

The series will also welcome newcomers Kathy Bates, who plays Madame LaLaurie, a Louisiana-born socialite living in the 1800s, who is known for her involvement in the torture and murder of black slaves, E! News writes.

Angela Bassett will play Maria Laveau, a Louisiana Creole practitioner of voodoo who was widely renowned in New Orleans for her skills.

Other new faces to "American Horror Story" include Christine Ebersole, Emma Roberts, Angela Bassett, Patti LuPone and Gabourey Sidibe.
