Doctor Who 50th Anniversary: Will Grace Holloway Return? Arthur Darvill Praises Peter Capaldi, 'I Think It's Brilliant'

As "Doctor Who" prepares for the 50th Anniversary Special November 23, questions are being raised as to whether former companion Grace Holloway will make a return to the franchise for the celebration.

Grace Holloway was portrayed by Daphne Ashbrook for the 1996 television movie. She joined the 8th Doctor (Paul McGann) to battle the Master, and the actress recently sat down with Doctor Who TV for an interview about the "Doctor Who" movie.

"I am always amazed at the divisiveness amongst 'Doctor Who' fans. 'The classic series vs. the new series,' 'kiss vs. no kiss,' 'Russell T. Davies vs. Steven Moffat.' The wonderful thing about 'Doctor Who,' in my humble opinion, is that it is ever changing. That's just built into it!" says Ashbrook regarding the controversy surrounding the "Doctor Who" TV movie.

"That's what keeps it alive. And as long as the 'stewards' of the show have love and sincerity about the show and its future, I'm on board."

Regarding the 50th Anniversary Special, it appears the actress hasn't ruled out Grace Holloway reappearing for the celebration in some capacity.

"Honestly, I don't know yet. Waiting to hear more. I really do hope so."

Following the 50th Anniversary Special, Matt Smith will leave the Doctor role and Peter Capaldi will become the 12th Doctor.  And one actor who is fully supporting the somewhat controversial casting choice is former companion Rory Williams aka Arthur Darvill.

"I think it's brilliant. It will be really hard for him to follow Matt, of course, who has made it his own. But I think it is the right time for him to leave and who better to take over than one of the best actors in the country," said Darvill regarding the new Doctor.

"I think Peter Capaldi is amazing and I think it will be very interesting to see what he does with it. If you look at what he's done in the past, he's so different and I think he'll bring a lot to the character."

Whether Arthur Darvill makes an appearance for the 50th Anniversary is still up for debate, but he seems confident that "Doctor Who" will continue on with Peter Capaldi.

"They'll have to write different stories for him and it will really open up the show in a different direction. If they got another young Doctor then maybe the show wouldn't have lasted but now I can only see it going on and on and on."
