Burger King, McDonald's Battle Of The Dollar Meals: Burger King's French Fry Burger Vs. McDonald's Wings

Burger King will be offering the "French fry burger" - its latest combo meal addition - starting this fall. French fry burger is regarded as Burger King's $1 competitor for McDonald's "McDonald's Wings," the chain's new Dollar Menu promo, stated several reports on Tuesday.

The Associated Press stated that Burger King's French fry burger is the fast food chain's new concept that aims to get rid of the traditional fries-on-the side burger meal, adding that the new offering will be officially made available at the Miami-based Burger King branch on Sept. 1.

French fry burger, which is simply Burger King's hamburger stuffed with four of its original recipe fries, is part of the strategic promotions of Burger King to grab more customer attention through its readily available, cheap eats, a report from Yahoo! News stated.

The same report recognized Burger King's French fry burger as a healthier alternative to the typical burger-fries combo, noting that the calories people will get from eating the French fry burger would be half of the summed-up calories they get from eating a 390-calore hamburger and a 650-calorie medium-sized fries.

McDonald's Wings, McDonald's newest Dollar Menu promo, will be made available staring November 2013 and will only last for a limited time period only, a Daily Mail news stated on Monday.

The Dollar Menu offering will come in 2-pc., 5-pc, and 10-pc. sets, that will come with any of McDonald's nine different sauces including: Spicy Buffalo, Tangy Barbecue, and Chipotie Barbeque, among others.

Additionally, Daily Mail confirmed that McDonald's will also introduce two other meals aside from McDonald's wings to its Dollar Menu promo: Grilled Onion Cheddar Burger and McDouble.

The same site also mentioned that the announcement of McDonald's Dollar Menu promo was the reason behind Burger King's somehow hasty decision of offering  new value meals under its name, citing Burger King's two other promotional meals, the Whopper and the Junior, as the chain's counterattack weapons to the previously mentioned two other Dollar Menu meals.

In last year's business statistical reports, it was found out that Burger King's net sales slumped by 0.5 while McDonald's had a 1 percent increment on its US sales. Meanwhile, their other competitors also gained sales advantages: Wendy's had a 0.4 increase on its year-round sales; Chipotie got a 3.4 percent increase while Starbucks outgrew them all with its 9 percent US sales increment.
