Moto X Release Date: Official And Final Launch Date Of Smartphone On Verizon Wireless Is August 29, Priced At $200

Moto X release date for U.S. carrier Verizon will be on August 29, the company announced on its Twitter account. Using hashtag #MeetMotoX, Big Red is offering the new smartphone at a $200 contract.

The announcement has confirmed earlier reports and numerous leaks for the Moto X release on Verizon Wireless. According to Phandroid, there’s no word yet on color options, but many are expecting the standard “woven” black and white in a 16GB or 32 GB storage configuration.

The Moto X that will be released is expected to not have the wording “Developers Edition” at the back of the phones.

Droid Life earlier warned that the date may change, but the official announcement has somehow solidified that the phone, which is customizable will be available to Verizon’s U.S. customers by tomorrow.

Another early report on the Moto X by the International Business Times noted that the Moto X is coming to Verizon “before the year’s end.” Now that the Big Red carrier has confirmed the arrival of the Moto X, it leaves T-Mobile and Sprint as the only ones with no official release date for the Android smartphone.

The current live Moto X design site is available only for AT&T subscribers. The Moto X is the first phone to be considered as a true collaborative effort between Motorola and its parent company, Google, since it was acquired by the tech giant.

Although Moto X is expected to be available in the U.S. very soon, the company does not have plans to release an international version of the smartphone. Google and Motorola said that the first phone assembled (but not made) in the U.S. will only be available in the U.S. and Canada according to the International Business Tines.

Despite not formally releasing plans for an international version of the Moto X, Motorola has put up international websites with a design that is very similar to the U.S. Moto X page. The move suggests that there maybe as similar Moto-style smartphone for Asian and European markets.
