Shania Twain New Album In the Works After 10 Year Hiatus; Looking for Producer as Birthday Present to Herself

Shania Twain’s new album may be in the works. Shania Twain hasn’t a new album in over ten years and it looks like the wait might be over. Shania Twain has the songs. Now, the country singer is on the lookout for a producer for the Shania Twain comeback.

Shania Twain told Rolling Stone magazine, "I'm pretty much there with my songs, and I'm really just sitting on the fence in regards to a producer. So I'm listening to a lot of records, doing my homework there, and trying to determine who is the right match."

The country star who is celebrating her 48th birthday today is looking to give herself a gift. Shania Twain wants to find a producer who can bring out the best in the songs she’s got. She wants her new record to be perfect and show has she has grown as an artist.

Shania Twain’s last album, “Up!” came out in 2002. She’s been playing shows in Las Vegas, performing a residency at Caesars Palace, where she would like to try out the new material. But what Shania Twain really wants is to get started on her new album soon.

Having dropped her most recent album, Up!, all the way back in 2002, Twain admits feeling pressure to release new music. While she wants her new music to be perfect, she also hopes her album showcases her evolution as an artist.

A lot of the songs are already written, Shania Twain told Rolling Stone magazine “I’m pretty much there with my songs. I’m really just sitting on the fence in regards to a producer. So I’m listening to a lot of records, doing my homework there, and trying to determine who is the right match.”

Although she’s topped the country charts several times, Shania Twain doesn’t want to repeat her past success. Twain told Rolling Stone, “I’m different, I’ve evolved, and I want that to be reflected in the music. At the same time I don’t want to abandon the root of what I am. There are probably less upbeat songs… I would say it’s more half and half compared to what I would’ve done in the past, where I would’ve leaned more towards mostly up-tempo songs. I still want to remain positive with my lyrics and stay in that mode with my music, because I enjoy uplifting myself, if you will, with my songs. But at the same time I’m going deeper, and I’m being more realistic with my point of view on things.”

Shania Twain admits "I enjoy uplifting myself with my songs. But at the same time I'm going deeper, and I'm being more realistic with my point of view on things. It's really such a personal journey making a record, but even more so writing the songs."
