Liam Hemsworth has been told to stay away from Miley Cyrus, inside sources say.

New reports say Helmsworth's friends have warned him to stay away from Miley Cyrus in order to protect his career after The Twerk That Shook The World at the MTV VMAs.

Hunger Games star Liam Hemsworth has been told to distance himself from fianceé Miley Cyrus after her raunchy, "embarrassing" performance at the 2013 MTV Video Music Awards at the Barclays Center.

The twerking queen's explicit performance with Robin Thicke to hit Blurred lines has been much derided...and Helmsworth's friends don't want him to go down with Miley.

Hemsworth, 23, and Cyrus, 20 have dating since first meeting three years ago on the set of The Last Song.

The Disney star gone bad twerked her way into infamy on Sunday...and Liam shouldn't have to deal with it.

A source close to the couple said, 'It's not just Liam that Miley is pushing away...his entire team is urging him to part ways with her because she's nothing but negative for his reputation and career.'

Liam wasn't even at the MTV VMAs...and friends say he shouldn't be drawn into Miley's mess. She's twerking her way downhill, they say-and it could have a negative affect on Liam's career.

This isn't the first time the two have had conflict-back in February, Liam was accused on cheating on Miley with Mad Men actress January Jones. However, the couple seem to have patched things up and say they still plan on getting married.

Who knows what this latest conflict will bring, though...time will tell.
